Conference "Uzbekistan - Horizons of Nuclear Energy"

Elektrqishloqqurilish JSC, a company of EQUNICO Group, participated in the international conference on nuclear energy organized by the New Nuclear Watch Institute (NNWI), which was held on November 22, 2024 in Tashkent under the chairmanship of Tim Yeo, former UK Energy Minister. The event focused on the key role of nuclear energy in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and on the challenges and prospects related to this technology in the context of climate change.

During the conference, special attention was paid to small modular reactors (SMRs), which are an innovative solution in the field of nuclear energy. Thanks to their compact design, SMRs offer safe, flexible and cost-effective energy sources that can be efficiently integrated into existing power grids. This solution is particularly important for remote regions and contributes to reducing the carbon footprint.

The conference was also attended by representatives of Kazakhstan, which is also struggling with growing energy demand. Tim Yeo emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the region, pointing to the huge potential for the development of nuclear energy in these countries.

Elektrqishloqqurilish JSC, a company of EQUNICO Group, plans to actively participate in the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. As part of this project, Elektrqishloqqurilish JSC has established cooperation with the Agency for the Development of Nuclear Energy at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Uzatom, responsible for the coordination and implementation of projects in the field of nuclear energy, will be a key partner in the implementation of this ambitious project.
