EQUNICO SE has obtained the status of a registered participant in the I-REC system and begins trading in international certificates of origin for renewable energy

EQUNICO SE is pleased to announce that it has obtained the status of registered participant in the global I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) system.

Thanks to registration in the I-TRACK system (a platform managing I-REC certificates), the Company received an official participant code and, from December 2025, can fully participate in the trading of international certificates of origin of energy from renewable sources in markets around the world, including Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa.

Obtaining authorization to trade I-REC certificates enables EQUNICO SE to:

  • Purchase and sale of guarantees of origin for renewable energy generated in installations not covered by national support schemes
  • Offering corporate and institutional clients a reliable tool for achieving sustainable development goals and non-financial reporting (including Scope 2 according to the GHG Protocol)
  • Neutralizing the carbon footprint of electricity consumed in Poland through certificates from foreign installations
  • Active participation in the rapidly growing global green certificates market, which is expected to exceed USD 15 billion in 2024

I-REC certificates are currently the most widely accepted global standard for guarantees of origin for renewable energy outside Europe and are increasingly complementing or replacing European GO certificates in the decarbonisation strategies of multinational corporations.

EQUNICO SE is one of the few Polish companies that have gained full access to trading in these instruments, which strengthens the Company's position as a partner in the energy transformation both on the domestic and international markets.
